Tasker

Tasker may by the most powerful app on the Play Store. Essentially, you can configure a set of actions based on contexts like time, date, or location that are going to be automatically performed by the application. This allows your phone to automatically perform tasks it was never designed to do while making your life a lot easier and more convenient.

You don’t need root permissions to use Tasker but having them extends the list of things Tasker can do. Tasker’s website lists a few usage examples like passcode-locking sensitive applications, Text-to-speech; read out loud: incoming SMS/ phone number, WiFi/Bluetooth status, when it’s time for an appointment, when the battery is low, take a time-lapse photo series (possibly ‘secretly’), make a regular backup of a file on the SD card, and much much more.

Even though Tasker takes a bit of learning and is not free it is worth the effort. With more than 200 built-in actions and plugin support, Tasker is truly a powerhouse of an application. If this is your first time hearing about it, I would suggest you head over to their website where you can find a great collection of guides to help you understand how to use Tasker to its fullest potential.

AdAway
