Top 3 Best Music Apps on Android

One of the best things about Android is the option to choose the perfect software just for you. This is also true when it comes to music apps. We have selected our favorite music player for three different categories.

The best lightweight music player: Shuttle

Shuttle is a lightweight music player for Android that does things just a little better than its competition. The whole player is built around Material design guidelines and its user interface is very intuitive and easy to use as a result. You can jump right in and start using Shuttle without having to spend a long time learning how it works and operates.

That being said, Shuttle has many advanced features that should satisfy even more demanding users. You can use the built-in 6 band equalizer with a bass boost to tweak how music sounds. This is a very useful feature if you have slightly unbalanced headphones, for example, with too much or too little bass. Just a few clicks and your music will sound amazing.

Other features include gapless playback, lyrics, automatic artwork downloading, many different theme options, sleep timer, customizable widgets, and Last.fm scrobbling.

There is also a paid version of Shuttle, called Shuttle+. When you purchase this version, you will gain the ability to edit id3 tags, browse through folders on your smartphone or tablet, use ChromeCasting, and enjoy a large number of additional themes.

Other honorable mentions in this category include BlackPlayer and Google Music.

The best hardcore music player: Poweramp Music Player

Poweramp is the go-to music player for people who are looking for the largest set of features and options to tinker with.

It can play almost any music format you throw at it, has a very capable 10 band graphical equalizer with custom presets for quick and easy adjustment, separate bass and treble knobs, mono mixing, crossfade, gapless playback, replay gain, dynamic queue, and much more.

We especially like that Poweramp is able to automatically download all cover art for you. All you need is to have properly edited id3 tags.

This player has 4.5 stars on Play Store, which is an amazing testament to its ability and optimization. Poweramp has been around for a while and it definitely is a well-optimized application without any serious issues to speak about.

The best music streaming service: Spotify

Spotify is the leader in music streaming service. While it has its share of competition from both Google and Apple, none of these can really match the versatility, price, and a large library of music that Spotify has.

There are three different version of Spotify client available. The PC and Mac version let you listen to any song, any time. The only limitation are ads and lower sound quality. The same is true for tablet version.

The mobile version is different, though. Unless you purchase Spotify Premium, you will only be able to listen in a shuffle mode. Considering that Spotify Premium costs as little as $4.99 per month, there is really no reason not to upgrade and enjoy high-quality music without any limitations.
