Alcatel Is on the Roll: New Smartphones, Tablets and Smartwatches
World’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances called IFA is in its full swing and, so far, Alcatel is in the spotlight with their new Android-powered devices.
Alcatel has introduced several new devices ranging from trendy looking smartphones to their new smartwatch and huge tablet with 17.3 inches large IPS screen. Let us take a closer look at some of these devices starting with the oversized tablet.
OneTouch Xess is a big 17.3 inches large tablet with full HD resolution and high-quality IPS display. It is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of expandable storage space.
It features a large 10 000 mAh battery and a very convenient kick-stand with three different angles (30, 50, and 70 degrees) to choose from.
A set of 3-watt stereo speakers on the front side promises a great multimedia experience which is undoubtedly something this tablet will excel at.
Another product introduced by Alcatel is their new smartwatch that strongly resembles a very popular Casio G-Shock series of rugged watches.
Go Watch is equipped with 1.22″ screen with 240 x 240 pixels resolution. The most important different between other smartwatches on the market is that Go Watch is not powered by Android operating system, but instead by Alcatel’s own proprietary one. The smartwatch can connect to devices running Android 4.3 and higher or iOS version 7+.
Not only they look though on the outside but they also are able to withstand a fall from up to 1.5 meters thanks to their IP67 certification.
The big “go” button under the display starts an instant heart rate monitoring. Go Watch has 225 mAh battery that should provide enough juice for 2 to 5 days of use.
OneTouch Go Play
Newly introduced smartphone called OneTouch Go Play places its bets on an extravagant design and wild range of colors your can choose from.
The smartphone is nothing special on the inside with its 5 inch HD display, quad-core processor and only 1 GB of RAM. It is a real shame that manufacturers still keep releasing smartphones with just 1 GB of RAM. RAM is one of the cheapest components in any smartphone and the one extra gigabyte can make a whole world of difference when it comes do day-to-day usability.
The one redeeming thing this smartphone has to offer is its IP67 certification. This means that you should theoretically be able to use the phone in wet and dusty environments without experiencing any issues.
OneTouch Pop Up
OneTouch Pop Up comes with a powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 and 2 GB of RAM. You also get 16 GB of storage space and micro SD card slot.
Alcatel decided to use a 5″ screen with HD resolution and a capable 13 MP rear camera (f/2.0) with LED flash. The rest of the phone looks also quite good with the exception of smaller 2 000 mAh battery.
The speciality of OneTouch Pop Up is the built-in FM radio. Something we do not see that often these days.
OneTouch Pop Star
OneTouch Pop Star comes in two different versions. One is equipped with Mediatek MT6580 chipset and is limited to 3G networks and the other one is LTE-ready and runs on MT6735P.
Sadly, just like Go Play, this smartphone also has just 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. The phone also has Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, FM radio, 2 000 mAh battery and 5 inches HD display.
The Pop Star’s characteristic feature is a colorful array of back covers that you can use to personalize your phone.
